For the first time in his career, Gary Woodland is a major champion.Woodland held off back-to-back defending champion Brooks Koepka down the stretch to clinch the U.S. Open victory.The 35-year-old finished the tournament at 13-under par and shot a 69 (2 under) on Sunday to win. He held the lead at the start of the round and never relinquished his spot at the top of the leaderboard.Woodland entered the tournament ranked No. 25 in the world and recorded his first PGA Tour win since the Waste Management Phoenix Open in February of 2018.
